The Big Man turns Uno!

July 30, 2012

One June 14th, my “Baby Man” turned one.  I can’t believe he is a year old, I guess time flies when you have a happy, easy-going little guy.  It’s interesting to see his personality come through a bit more as he gets older.  As an infant he was pretty laid back, liked to eat, and generally just kind of went with it.  As a toddler, he is still laid back and loves food, but does not go with the flow anymore unless it suits his own agenda–or his sister convinces him otherwise.

Andrew is the happiest outside.  When a door opens in the house, he will throw down what he is doing and make a complete break for the outside.  If he gets to the door, and it is closed he will throw himself down in a fit.  It’s sort of sad, but with 100 degree temperatures, our outside options are not as plentiful.  His favorite outdoor item….COWS!  Just like his father..

And if he only has one true love at this moment in time, I would like to say it’s me, but it’s actually the other blonde in the family.

A few things about Andrew over the last year…

  • He is such a good sleeper. He has his moments (mostly when teething), but generally sleeps from 8pm-6:30am.  This is huge in our family!
  • Loves to talk!  Shocking, I know. 😉 His words right now are..cow, ball, milk, more, mama, dada, Ainsley (in some form), tractor, out, hello, and uh-oh.
  • His first two teeth came in at around 8 months, which were promptly followed by 6 more.  Ouch!
  • Is Mr. Destructor.  If it can be demolished, he will do it for you gladly.  If it can be sprayed (milk from a cup), he will also be happy to give your floor a milk bath–even from a sippy cup.  He likes to evoke general mayhem in the house by running through it and ripping everything apart.  He once ran into a wall, backed up, grunted, and moved on to something else.
  • Has consistently been in the 95 percentile for height his whole first year.  He weight…well, let’s just say we are at 90 percent and that’s an accomplishment.
  • He started crawling at 11 months.  This may or may not be secondary to the fact I held him most of his first year.  I know, shame on me, but I love to snuggle him!
  • He actually took his first steps at 10 months, but did not start full on walking until 12 months.  Yes, he technically walked before he crawled, but I am going to call it a wash.
  • His favorite foods are strawberries, chicken, spaghetti, fish, and sweet potato puffs.
  • Has an infectious personality combined with being a natural charmer and a twinkle in his eye.  Andrew has never met a stranger–as long as mommy is around.  He will turn it on with anyone…waitresses, complete strangers at amusement parks, other kids.  He is just an all around playful guy!

We are just so blessed to have him in our lives!
