It’s almost that time!

May 24, 2010

It is almost time for vacation.  Hal.le.lu.jah.  I need a break soooo bad.  Things have been uber hectic (as usual) and am looking forward to just chillaxing, if you can do that with a 9 month old on a cruise.  One of the main issues contributing to my net absence is trying to balance all aspects of my life.  I never knew it was going to be such a challenge to work full-time, keep up with Ainsley, keep up with our house, keep up with myself, and have somewhat of a social life.  I have come to realize that it isn’t possible and I have to accept that.  Which is slightly hard for perfectionist personalities like mine.  If I had to pick one thing that truly complicates my life, but in an odd way improves it, would be my career.  I love my job-my coworkers, my variety of tasks presented in my every day work, and getting paid making a difference.  In an odd way, it is also what gives me my sanity.  Having adult conversations and being a professional rejuvenate me in ways I don’t think are readily apparent to me until it is gone.  I really don’t think I could have a better career, but at the end of the day, it is still a job and is one more thing to keep up with.  I have no plans to leave my job, but fully understand the origin of the majority of my stress.  I just try to focus on each day and identify tasks I can complete to give me a sense of accomplishment in a professional way…then move on to Ainsley!

Ainsley continues to mature every day and is growing to quite the little woman.  Sigh.  She is full on crawling and continues gain speed each day.  The cutest thing about her starting to crawl is the way she made her debut into the crawling world.  Since Ainsley LOVES (can’t overstate that enough) to be held, crawling was not really on her radar.   So I slowly started to put her down more and more, which she protested, but accepted as long as I was 2 inches from her face.  Jer and I worked with her and she became mobile at about 6.5 months.  Doing some sort of army/bear/rump always in the air crawl that looked a little like this…all.the.time.

For the next month, Jeremiah and I worked and worked with her to get her into a crawl stance.  She would get on all fours rocking back and forth, but other than that we got nothing except for disinterest and protests.  Finally, around 8 months, I was making reservations for our zip lining on the computer across from her in the front room, she all the sudden picked up on all fours and beelined, and I do mean beelined for the computer–another of her favorites.  And then it began.  She just started crawling all over, as long as I am right there with her.  Ahhh, the joys of an independent child–everything is on her terms.  Now she is a speed crawler, which is the cutest thing ever.  She still does not sleep through the night and probably never will.  She takes anywhere from a total of 1-2 hours of naps per day (notice I said total-not per nap). We are not sure why, but just attribute it to her father and grandfather who consider 4 hours of sleep to be a full night’s rest.   We have discussed this with various physicians and the general consensus is that she won’t be sleeping all night until she can comprehend the concept.  Luckily I have a great husband who requires minimal sleeps and pulls the night shift 90% of the time.  Thank you Jer!!   She has four teeth and is working on the fifth.  I haven’t posted pics in a while, so enjoy the show!
