This, That, and CIS Redemption.

March 27, 2010

Yes, you heard it here…my last encounter with CIS was PLEASANT!  I could not believe it.  Suffice to say that it appears that all is well that ends with on the I600A front.   Last I left the soap opera that is our adoption, I was mile high in paperwork drama.  But not so much anymore.  Hallelujah!  I am happy to report that FINALLY, after almost two years, I had a great experience at CIS.   I will continue  the story where I left off in my last post, under Part I of our adoption.  I submitted our HS to CIS and I did receive a biometrics appointment very shortly after submitting our updated HS.  And guess where it was sent??  Any guesses???  To our OLD address.  That is after we submitted our updated HS changing our address.  Sigh.  Further complicating the issue, I only received my appointment, not my husbands, which I suspect was returned to the CIS office.  Double sigh.  So we decided to roll the dice (on my BIRTHDAY, none the less) and make the five hour (one way) drive up to our “local” CIS office–with only my fingerprinting appointment.  Luckily when we arrived at CIS, it was not busy at all.  A definite change from our last two trips, where we were all packed in a super small room, shoulder to shoulder with the heat turned up to like 90.  But I digress…  Fortunately, I was able to get Jeremiah’s appointment that day also.  After completing my fingerprints, I headed to the desk, where they at first acted like I had five eyes, but after some persistance, was able to get Jeremiah in the same day.  Hallelujah!  We then left happy campers and made the five hour trek back home.  It was a heinous long day, but very productive.  I received our approval for an extension in the mail this week, which makes me happy!!!  I don’t have to worry about that for another 15ish months!  It looks like my optimism worked!!!

In other life news, I had my first big trip since last April for work.  I was in DC for about four days.  While I missed Ainsley and Jeremiah, I must selfishly admit I enjoyed being an adult.  The best crab cakes–EVER–and I had a great time with my coworkers.  We went to a couple of receptions at the Spy Museum, took in the sites, and of course did a little work.   Unfortunately I only have very bad blackberry pictures, so there will be no posting of those.

I do have one lovely pic of the shrimps!   Ainsley sure loves her cute little cuz (sorry for the poor iPh*one quality)!

In one last piece of news, my SIL and I have totally lost our minds and booked a cruise to the Bahamas.  Yes, we are taking the infants and yes, we are crazy.  It is definitely an adjustment having a child, but life must go on with some sense of normalcy.  I am actually very excited about the coming months.  The weather is going to be warmer, I will be going to the Bahamas and to Puerto Rico in July, and many other local fun things.  Spring has sprung!
