Sugary Wonderland

December 23, 2008

One of the things that I, as I know many people do, equate with the holiday season is sugar cookies!!!  I mean really-does it get any better than that?!  All that sugar and crisco melted into a vanilla pile of pure calories and not-so-organic goodness.  I mean, really, who can go without making sugar cookies?!   I can honestly say that I have the best recipe for sugar cookies known to man.  Judge as you may as everyone says that about their recipe, but seriously-I have not tasted any other than comes close.  I thought about keeping it a secret, but it is Christmas, and I am in such a giving spirit–just kidding-about the secret.  I will also reveal my secret cream cheese frosting recipe.  I hope you can stand the excitement!  Our sugar cookies are a  family recipe originated by my aunt, which I am very happy she originated.  So without further delay…Bring on the sugar peeps!!!!

Sugar Cookies

Ingredients: 3/4 cup Crisco, 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract, 2 & 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. salt.

Frosting Ingredients: See below.

Directions: Mix all ingredients above until smooth.  Cut with cookie cutters at approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness–depending on how thick you like your cookies.  I cut them pretty thick.  Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.  I always under-bake as I don’t like hard, crumblie cookies.

Disclaimer:  Will cause bloating as eating only one cookie is not humanly possible.
