The Funny Farm Continues….

October 4, 2008

I am obsessed with goats.  I don’t really know why, I just like the little furry, nob heads.  They are so cute, yet so bizarre.  Probably why I like them, they beat to their own drum and they like to eat.  Sound familiar?  But taking it one step further, I really like fainting goats.  I have always told my husband that when we move out of our subdivision, that I want a whole herd of fainting goats.  So that I can drive up our driveway, lay on the horn, then watch them all fall to the ground.  It is important to note, that what causes the goats to faint is a hereditary gene that when the goats are startled their muscles tense up, they fall, but when their muscles relax, the get back up and run on their way.  It is not hurtful to the goat in any way.  Believe me, if it was, I would be the first one flipping out.  Since my in-laws are super good at obtaining any unique type of animal, in an ode to Gwen at the pumpkin patch, they purchased a fainting goat.  He is so cute, that I told my husband I now have a second pet.  I wonder how he and Ralph will get along?  My husband wasn’t that thrilled, goats can be a pain.  But there is a problem.  The young little kid does stand up long enough to faint.  He is too young, so he just lounges around and looks cute.  Then there is the other problem, I can’t bring myself to yell loud enough to make him faint.  He is just too cute to yell at.  So the best I can do is the below video illustrating the anomaly of fainting goats.  That is your National Geographic lesson for today (ha ha!), I hope you enjoyed it!
