Pumpkins, pumpkins, and yes..more pumpkins

September 13, 2008

I awoke very early this morning to the sound of my alarm going off–not good for a Saturday.  When I finally came around, I realized that it was time to get the party started–pumpkin style.  I blackmailed myself with chocolate to get out of bed, made a huge pot of black Ritalin, and started on my merry way to the farm.  The drive was short and uneventful, just the way I like.  I arrived at the farm mid-morning only to find a bear cub.  Yes, I said a bear cub.  My father-in-law rescues animals then takes them to the zoo where they can be raised.  I am generally against the zoo….but that is for another post.  After the bewilderment wore off, I stumbled through the peacocks and into the house.  In case you were wondering, my in laws do live on a funny farm, never a dull moment to say the least.  On any given day you could see either a goat, duck, peacock, cow, horse, pig, armadillo, or any other random stray animal starring at you from the porch when you awake.  We finally made our way to the pumpkin patch and the picking began.  We picked, picked, and picked some more–and it’s still not enough.  Despite all the work, it was a relaxing day.  I love being outside…much better than the Blackberry!
