Slowly but surely..

July 30, 2008

Slowly but surely it is all coming together.  With each item checked off the list (I am a list lover), we are that much closer to our child.  At this point, I don’t really agonize over small things because each day that passes brings us one step closer to the pot of gold–and vacation.  The big accomplishment today-we have psychologist appointments!  Although they are after we come back from vacation, I am not going to complain.  We have to go in to do preliminary paperwork on August 15th.  Maybe they will just surprise me and do the whole assessment right then!  Again, I know I am being optimistic.  It is good to have a dream…. 🙂  I also requested the long form of our birth certificates and marriage license from Jefferson City.  I didn’t even know they had such a thing,  this is all so educational-and I love it.  Not only are we going to get to immerse ourselves in a whole other culture, I am learning so much about our own!  In unrelated adoption news, true to my OCD personality I have started pondering our next vacay.  Yes, you read it right, I don’t have this one finished, but yet onto something else-maybe I should ask the psychologist about this at my appointment?!?  I am thinking Peru.  We have been planning to go to Machu Picchu for quite some time, but never seem to get to it.  I am thinking spring 2009 might just be the right time.  I would love to hike the Inca trail, but it is customary to hire a Sherpa (I am not really into third parties) and if we did a long section of the trail we would have to camp (not into that either).  Ugh.  On second thought, maybe we will stay at the base lodge and take day hikes……

You have got to be kidding me. I was just talking with my mom YESTERDAY about how I must go to Peru! I must, I must, I must! I’m D-Y-I-N-G to go there!! Peru was one of my favorite places to study in my Latin American History courses in college. I totally want to stay in the 5 star resort at Machu Pichu!

It’s great your psych (I accidentally typed “psycho!”) evals are right after a vacation. You’ll be so relaxed and happy!

UGH! Peru has been on our list for years. Can you hike with a baby strapped to your back? I guess the real question is do I WANT to hike with a baby on my back…
