It’s coming…..

July 23, 2008
Fall is quickly approaching, which in our family means it’s almost pumpkin patch season!  This city girl met her farm boy 10 years ago, and now I am a pumpkin picker.  Funny how life turns out!  We have a pumpkin patch which grew from selling pumpkins on the porch to the full fledged fall festival that consumes our life from mid-August to the beginning of November.  We have thousands of kids who tour through our farm in two months!  It is unbelievable.  It starts in June with planting pumpkins and corn, then culminates with hours of picking.  Which, ironically enough,  I am allergic to the vines of the pumpkins.  If you come out to the farm this fall, just look for the girl who is picking pumpkins in 90 degree heat-with long sleeves.  Sad, but true!  I rash up like someone who has just taken a roll in poison ivy combined with a bad case of the gout.  We have hayrides, train rides, a small petting zoo (I did mention that my in-laws have bizarre animals like peacocks & Watusi’s), a corn maze, and of course-a fan favorite-you can pick your own pumpkin-which are not always orange.  Before my husband, I thought pumpkins were only orange.  Little did I know!  The dates have not been updated for this year yet, but check us out at mcwilliamspumpkinpatch.com.  If you live in the area, come on by, I would love to talk instead of work!

I can’t wait to go to the pumpkin patch! Our little guy is going to love it. I’ll have to get him a super cute fall outfit for pictures.
