The Black Widow.

June 18, 2008

I have a cat.  A black cat.  Some of you who know me are probably surprised by this, and at first, so was I.   We adopted Ralphie off of my in-laws farm about 2 years ago.  He was obviously someones cat, but I guess people figure if you live on a farm, you would like an extra cat.  I mean, when you have hundreds of other animals, what is one more cat?  Just so you know, that is a bad assumption.  So Ralphie came to our family as a charity case, and now has blossomed into the king of the ranch.  He rips my leather furniture, bites my arms, bites my friends arms (poor John), screams at the top of his lungs because he can, and runs wildly through the house.  Yet I admire him for all those qualities.  Resisting the norm, taking no prisoners, living in his freedom.  What a wonderful life!  It all started one day when I was at my in-laws farm and this cat (he was grossly underweight and losing clumps of hair) would not stop following me around and howling, or anyone for that matter who would feed him.  So in a split second I decided (or he decided) he was coming home with me.  I took him to the vet, cleaned him up, fed him too much, and gave him a name.  Needless to say, I have never looked back.  I mean, how could you resist this face?

You did a FABULOUS job. I especially like the cute picture of the two of you – so utterly cute!!! The cat ain’t so bad either. I’ll have to put you on my list of favorites so I can keep up to date!

This will prepare you for motherhood, right?? Just kidding. If Matthew acts like this, Aunt Mandi will have to step in! I met Ralphie once when Melissa was feeding him, and he seemed nice enough.
