Day 12: Daintree Rainforest & Cape Tribulation
We went road tripping again today up the coast to the section of Queensland known as the Daintree Rainforest. The area that is especially scenic is Cape Tribulation. This area of the rainforest is a World Heritage Site as it is the only place in the world where the rainforest meets the ocean. We had a wonderful day walking paths through the rainforest and lounging on the beaches at Cape Trib. Our hikes culminated with my husband being mistaken for a large Emu. It started when he spotted an Emu that was taller than myself and went on the hunt after it in the brush to catch it on camera. I did not follow as there was a group of *seasoned* tourists with a tour guide standing in the same area and did not want to disturb his talk on birds. About 5 minutes later, the group hears some rustling in the brush. The guide tells them that the Emu is coming back and to get their camera’s ready. I of course am chuckling, knowing that it is my husband. As the *mystery* being approaches, the guide says “he’s coming back”, then my husband pops out of the woods with his video camera to all of the tourists. One of the seasoned tourists exclaimes”look–it’s a human being!”. Needless to say, I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to wet myself. We then decided it was lunchtime. I had laughed up an appetite. We had a wonderful lunch in the rainforest in a village called Cow Bay. We approached what appeared to be a shack, but had one of the best meals since we have been here. Tomorrow it is off to Brisbane to see my aunt! It should be a great time!
This one is especially for Regina……

I never knew you were married to an Emu!
